حـماةَ الـديارِ عليكمْ سـلامْDefenders of the realm,

أبَتْ أنْ تـذِلَّ النفـوسُ الكرامْPeace on you;

عـرينُ العروبةِ بيتٌ حَـرامOur proud spirits will

وعرشُ الشّموسِ حِمَىً لا يُضَامْNot be subdued.

ربوعُ الشّـآمِ بـروجُ العَـلاThe abode of Arabism,

تُحاكي السّـماءَ بعـالي السَّـناA hallowed sanctuary;

فأرضٌ زهتْ بالشّموسِ الوِضَاThe seat of the stars,

سَـماءٌ لَعَمـرُكَ أو كالسَّـماAn inviolable preserve.

رفيـفُ الأماني وخَفـقُ الفؤادْSyria’s plains are

عـلى عَـلَمٍ ضَمَّ شَـمْلَ البلادْTowers in the heights,

أما فيهِ منْ كُـلِّ عـينٍ سَـوادْResembling the sky

ومِـن دمِ كـلِّ شَـهيدٍ مِـدادْ؟Above the clouds.

نفـوسٌ أبـاةٌ ومـاضٍ مجيـدْA land resplendant

وروحُ الأضاحي رقيبٌ عَـتيدْWith brilliant suns,

فمِـنّا الوليـدُ و مِـنّا الرّشـيدْBecoming another sky,

فلـمْ لا نَسُـودُ ولِمْ لا نشـيد؟Or almost a sky.

Hamaat al-diyaar 'alaykum salaam
Abat an tadhill al-nufus al-kiraam
Areen al-‘urooba baytun haraam
Wa ‘arsh al-shumuus hima la yudhaam
Ruboo‘ al-shaam burooj al-‘ula
Tuhaaki al-samaa' bi‘aali al-sanaa
Faardh zahat bil-shumuus al-widaa
Samaa' la‘amruka aw kal-samaa

Rafeef al-amani wa khafq al-fu’aad
‘Ala ‘alam dhamma shaml al-bilaad
Amma fihi min kull ‘ayn sawad
Wa min dam kull shaheed midad?
Nufus abaat wa maadh majid
Wa rooh al-adhaahi raqeeb ‘ateed
Fa minna al-waleed wa minna al-rasheed
Fal-lam la nasood wa lim la nashid?
